Elsie’s House

Elsie’s House is a short term transitional home for working families that allows them to stay together in the event of a fire, landlord foreclosure, property condemnation and other unexpected events that could tear a family apart.  Families can stay free on a temporary basis to save up rent, deposit and security.  This house was given to Safe Net by the Town of Stafford.  This house was completely renovated from the ground up by a dedicated crew of volunteers who worked virtually every Saturday for three years and it was opened in 2007.  Safe Net received a State of Connecticut Legislative Citation for the work, which was presented to by State Representative Penny Bacchiochi.  Safe Net Ministries has hosted 11 families in Elsie‘s House since it was opened. It cost $6,970 to operate Elsie’s House in 2011.
